Following in the artistic footsteps of her painter father, Raffaele La Capria, and actress mother, Ilaria Occhini, after graduating from the Silvio D’amico National Academy of Dramatic Arts in Rome Alexandra La Capria began her career as a theatrical actress alongsideGabriele Lavia, Monica Guerritore, Ugo Pagliai and Paola Gassman. This acting experience subsequently led her to write several theatrical plays performed at the most important Italian festivals, including Benevento, Todi, Sant’Arcangelo and Dacia Maraini, and they have all been published in a book by Manni. From the theatre, she turned to the cinema, working on screenplays in collboration with Lina Wertmuller and Simona Izzo for several years. The owner of a family estate in Tuscany, in 2004 she dedicated herself to renovating the farm, transforming it into a charming agritourism. That would prove to be the beginning of her career as an interior designer. She met Mete Nisari, a successful architect from Istanbul and founder of the ARX DESIGN GROUP, who wanted to work alongside her. That was the beginning of an intense collaboration in which Alexandra La Capria was in charge of the interiors for numerous projects, many of which were hotels. Also with Mete Nisari, she opened a design showroom in Istanbul that bears her name.
They subsequently created La Capria Suite Hotel, a boutique hotel on the Aegean coast, selected by the Sunday Times as one of the best 20 new boutique hotels in Europe, as well as Alexandra Cocktail Bar in Istanbul, which has become one of the best known venues on the Bosphorus. Alexandra La Capria’s unique life certainly influenced her sensitivity to the perception of our current reality and taste.
